Bytown Dodgers Baseball Club Launches 2017 Fall Program

The Bytown Dodgers Baseball Club (BDBC) is a new organization in the Ottawa area looking to give players between the ages of 9 and 16 an opportunity to play competitive baseball in the fall of 2017. We will be offering five levels of play including: Mosquito (2007-2008), PeeWee (2005-2006), Minor Bantam (2004), Major Bantam (2003), and Minor Midget (2002).

The BDBC coaching staff will be made up of non-parent head coaches at all age groups. The coaches include: current and former professional baseball players, former NCAA Division 1 baseball players, former Canadian National Team Players, as well as provincially certified coaches. This staff will bring their knowledge and experience to the Bytown Dodgers in a development-specific program. The Fall 2017 program will consist of outdoor and indoor practices, along with strength training attached to the indoor training. The practice schedule will be complemented with exhibition games and tournaments throughout the fall season.

Our tryout dates will be Monday, August 28-Thursday, August 31. We are awaiting confirmation from the city on field locations and times. There will be no cost for tryouts. The season is set to begin on Thursday, Sept 7, 2017.

We are planning on competing in the Akadema Wood Bat Challenge in Montreal, QC from September 15-17, as well as the Sam Bat Wood Fall Tournament in Kanata from September 22-24.

Pricing for our Fall program is $450.00 per player. This fee includes: one hat, two shirts, two practices a week (indoor and outdoor), one strength training per week, equipment for teams, umpire fees, coaches allowance, tournament fees, and field fees .

Many of you will be asking how this fits in for the Spring / Summer of 2018 season.  Normally, our offerings are for the full year.  While we will field teams at all levels for the 2018 season, the reality is that we have had to devote much of our energies to creating the BDBC and to ensuring a quality product for this Fall.  At a later point, BDBC will conduct tryouts for the 2018 Spring / Summer season.  While we cannot guarantee that any athletes playing for the BDBC this Fall will make the programs offered in 2018, we are confident that many of the athletes will be well positioned from the Fall to do so.

    Hi,

My 2004, and likely my 2007, would like to tryout. We are mostly interested in Spring/Summer because they are also competitive hockey players. They are passionate about baseball and would love to play Fall.

Would the Program be opened to allowing him/them to play, should he/they be selected at tryouts despite the potential occasional schedule conflicts?

    Thank you….

      Hey Seb,

Glad to see you have a 2 players interested in trying out for our program. With it being a 6-7 week program this fall, we are aware that multisport athletes may have some schedule conflicts. We would like to see your sons come to our tryouts and we can evaluate the schedule conflicts after.

      Thanks

      Bytown Dodgers Staff
